The Spanish Government made public new changes to the Entry requirements and covid travel on international flights to Spain.

In a new BOE – Official State Gazette the Spanish government has made adjustments to the protocols and requirements that travelers must meet in order to travel to this European country.

Covid requirements to travel to Spain

Basically the main changes are the following:

  • The use of the Spain Travel Health –SpTH– application is eliminated, The entry QR will no longer be necessary in any case.
  • At the beginning of the purchasing process, it is no longer necessary to inform about health control measures

In this sense, the conditions of entry to Spain from 20 of September 2022 are the following:

  • Arrivals from the EU/Schengen: no covid entry restrictions.
  • Arrivals from outside the EU/Schengen: The passengers (except for minors 12 years and those in international transit), arriving from countries that do NOT belong to the European Union or are NOT considered Schengen associated countries, to be able to pass health controls upon arrival in Spain, They must necessarily present one of these documents:
    • Vaccination certificate 2 dose o 1 dose if it is janssen or if the disease has passed. Validity: +14 days and not more than 9 months. This is encoded as 2/2, O 1/1, O well
    • o Booster shot 3 dose or two doses if one is janssen unlimited validity. This is encoded as 3/3, 3/1, O 2/1,
    • or recovery certificate +11 and less 180 days, orPCR performed within the 72 hours prior to departure,
    • or antigens carried out within the 24 hours prior to departure
    • On duty crews included in position exempt from all
    • Vaccines accepted: EMA/OMS. A mix of vaccines with a vaccine not approved by the WHO is also accepted as long as the last dose supplied is one of those approved by the WHO or EMA..
    • The vaccination certificate with complete schedule, of minors 18 has no expiration date. They do not need a booster dose.
    • The mask remains mandatory on board on all flights to/from Spain.
  • Visa, passport or enabling travel document depending on the case of each traveler.
