In a new agreement that expands the capacity of Amazon, Hawaiian Airlines reported that it will operate aircraft Airbus A330 freighters for the e-commerce giant.
Hawaiian Airlines, announced a deal with Amazon.com, Inc. and its subsidiaries to operate and maintain an initial fleet of 10 freighters Airbus A330-300 from the fall of 2023. Hawaiian will maintain and fly the A330s of Amazon under the Hawaiian FAA air carrier certificate to move cargo between airports near the operations of the online retailer amenities. The 10 Initial aircraft will enter service in 2023 and 2024. The agreement also contemplates the possibility of expanding the fleet based on the future commercial needs of Amazon..

In preparation for Amazon service, Hawaiian intends to establish a pilot base in USA continental, increase existing maintenance bases and expand pilot recruitment, mechanics, dispatchers, supply chain employees and others who will help support this new cargo operation.
Regarding the commercial agreement, the Company issued Amazon warrants to acquire up to 15 percent (post-issuance) of its common shares. The warrants are exercisable during the next 9 years.
Hawaiian, what in 1942 became the first commercial airline to transport scheduled air cargo from USA with the first cargo certificate in the nation, today it transports cargo on passenger aircraft through its network of flights within Hawaii and between the islands and North America, Asia and Oceania.
