Moving forward with its plans to strengthen a point-to-point network from Ecuador, Avianca inaugurated the Quito-Buenos Aires direct route* with the takeoff of flight AV647 from the Mariscal Sucre International Airport at 21:10.

"This route becomes the best alternative for Ecuadorians who travel to the southern cone for studies, tourism and business; and gives us the opportunity to attract more Argentine tourists to Quito and Ecuador with an offer of 4 weekly flights and more than 4000 monthly chairs”, commented Maria Beatriz Gonzalez, commercial manager of Avianca Ecuador.

Avianca currently operates 6 direct international routes from Ecuador and so far this year has mobilized more than 950.000 passengers, becoming one of the airlines with the largest offer of non-stop flights.

Flights Quito – Buenos Aires direct

The flights that will connect these two cities will be operated on the aircraft of the family Airbus A320s with the following itinerary:

Flight Route Departure Arrival Frequency
AV646* Buenos Aires–Quito 06:05 10:00 Monday, Wednesday, Friday, domingo.
AV647* Quito–Buenos Aires 21:10 05:00 (+1) Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, domingo

*Flights operated by Avianca Costa Rica S.A., the complete route is San José-Quito-Buenos Aires

The operation of this flight complements the current route Saint Joseph – Quito with which the airline offers a very interesting alternative to integrate three countries with great tourism and business potential: Argentina, Ecuador and Costa Rica.

In the same line, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works, Jose Luis Aguilar noted: “the inauguration of the Avianca flight on the Quito-Buenos Aires route as part of its international expansion project, that starting today will connect directly and non-stop to these two cities, will strengthen bilateral relations between Ecuador and Argentina. The potential that this route offers will allow the airline to be successful in its operation”. Avianca has the support of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works.

“Buenos Aires is one of the destinations to which we have dedicated the most effort and Avianca's decision to start this route is a triumph for all of us who have worked to connect the capitals of Argentina and Ecuador.. Buenos Aires is a benchmark for history, culture and traditions, while Quito, in the center of the world, it contains unique architectural treasures and is the gateway to Ecuador, a country that offers a range of experiences in its four natural regions. I congratulate and thank Avianca, a key strategic partner for the connectivity and tourism development of Quito and Ecuador, for betting on this flight, sure it will be a success, Ramón Miró limited, president and CEO of Quiport.

Success to Avianca on this new route and I hope to be on board this flight soon.
