Although this information was known several weeks ago with the public appearance of its first aircraft bearing the new corporate image, Easyfly formalized its total change on 15 august 2023, even launching their new website http://clicair.co/

After a transformation and restructuring process that boosted its financial statements, the airline has also initiated a brand transition, result of an agreement reached in the legal process filed in the year 2020 by the Easygroup group.

Easyfly is now Click

During 17 years Easyfly has connected the regions of Colombia, generating employment opportunities and boosting tourism and the economy of the most remote and least profitable territories. doing more than 5 thousand flights a month, through 54 routes and a fleet of 20 planes. Transporting more than two million people with more than 40 Destinations.

The company now faces immense challenges in the airline industry, which in recent years has experienced very complex scenarios., but that despite the complications it has managed to mature its line of business and become an important regional player in the challenging Colombian air market, with a very different goal than the others, connect low-demand routes that no other would without stops.

“We are tracing a new stage as a company that allows us mainly, connect with our country purpose. We are more than airplanes, flights and frequencies. Breaking all paradigms, doing things in a genuine way, close, flexible and practical. Our airline grew and became an icon of our country and above all, from each of the territories where we are present and we are excited that starting in August the country will discover this new moment for the brand”, says Felipe Gutiérrez Forero, General manager.

New Click flights

The airline indicated that it maintains known and new routes as: Medellin – Pasto. Bogota – Bucaramanga. Bogota – Pereira. MedellinCartagena. Medellín – Valledupar and the recent, Bogotá – Cúcuta with 4 weekly frequencies.

With the southern region of the country are the routes: Bogotá – Pitalito, with six weekly frequencies. Bogota–Cali, that from 22 next August it will have two daily flights; a route that will make the connectivity of the South of the country more efficient to continue connectivity from the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón airport that serves Cali with Pasto, Tumaco and Guapi.

New routes arrive, such as the direct flight Bogotá – Cartagena, which begins operations on 18 August and from mid-December Bucaramanga – Cartagena begins.

The same way, We are excited to fly from locals in Nuquí (collided), San Gil (Santander), to connect these destinations with Bogotá and Medellín and, Acandí in the magical Chocó where we await the consensus with the local authorities to reactivate this air terminal as a direct door to Capurganá and Sapzurro, among others.

Lawsuits and brand similarities

This change is not born solely from a need to refresh your brand in the name of marketing, but there is a legal situation behind that forced the Colombian airline to rethink its name.

In context, Colombian airline EasyFly was founded in 2006 and operates flights nationwide. On 2019, british airline EasyJet (founded long before there in the 1996) filed a lawsuit against EasyFly for trademark infringement. EasyJet claimed at the time that the EasyFly name was similar to its brand name. EasyJet and that could cause confusion among consumers despite the geographical distance of operation of both companies.

On 2020, a Colombian court ruled in favor of easyJet and ordered EasyFly to change its name. EasyFly appealed the ruling, but in 2022 the Superior Court of Bogotá confirmed the ruling of the lower court.

On 2023, EasyFly announced that it would change its name to Clic. The name change became effective on 15 august 2023 presenting a new image on its website and social networks, along with his fleet of ATR.

The EasyFly vs.. EasyJet is an example of how trademarks can be defended in court. In this case, the Colombian court found that the EasyFly name was similar to that of the EasyJet brand and that it could cause confusion among consumers. As a result, the court ordered EasyFly to change its name to Clic.
