Lima Airport Partners (LAP) and the Peruvian Airports and Commercial Aviation Corporation (CORPAC) have come together to carry out a significant transformation in the Jorge Chavez International Airport. This joint effort focuses on the renewal of the runway lighting system, a crucial step to ensure safe and efficient air operations.
New lighting system for the left runway of Lima
The project includes the installation of a state-of-the-art lighting system that meets the most demanding international standards.. This advanced technology will significantly improve visibility for pilots, even in adverse weather conditions. To achieve this goal, LAP will hire a specialist to execute the project under the supervision of CORPAC.
In order to minimize disruptions to airport operations, LAP and CORPAC have carefully coordinated their work schedules. The rehabilitation of the runway and the modernization of the lighting system will be carried out simultaneously, ensuring a smooth transition.
To finance this ambitious project, Both parties have agreed to a payment structure in which LAP will apply a discount of the 80% in the amounts billed by CORPAC monthly for the Unified Airport Use Rate (BRING IT) international and that of the landing and takeoff service. This scheme will allow LAP to pay the contractor commissioned by CORPAC, ensuring timely and efficient execution of resources.
Lighting system modernization will directly benefit passengers by improving safety and reducing flight delays. Let us remember that months ago there were hundreds of delays and cancellations due to a massive failure in this obsolete system that works on the left lane..
A Delayed Opening, But for a good reason
Although the inauguration of the new Jorge Chavez International Airport has been rescheduled for 29 of January of 2025, This decision is based on the commitment to deliver a world-class facility. By ensuring that all systems are fully operational and that the airport is ready to meet the demands of millions of passengers, LAP and the Peruvian government are investing in the long-term success of the country's aviation industry.
Features New Airport:
- Greater capacity: It can accommodate up to 30 million passengers per year.
- Modern infrastructure: A surface 270,000 m², will offer first class services.
- Improved connectivity: New accesses and public transport services will facilitate travel.
- Commitment to sustainability: It will incorporate environmentally friendly technologies.
In summary, the renewal of the runway lighting system and the inauguration of the new Jorge Chavez International Airport represent an important milestone for Peruvian aviation. This project not only improves the safety and efficiency of air operations, but also positions Peru as a more attractive tourist and business destination.
