Avianca has presented an ambitious international expansion plan with new routes and frequencies, increasing connectivity for the summer season of 2026.

The Colombian airline will significantly increase its presence in the markets of Brazil and Europe, while reestablishing a key connection in western Venezuela, consolidating an operating scheme of high capacity and diversified services. Too, announced more flights during the season world 2026.

More flights to key destinations during the World Cup

What's more, with the entry into operation of the direct Guatemala-San Francisco route*, the company will offer 4 frequencies and more 1.400 seats a week to connect between the two cities, during this season.

Consolidation in the Brazilian market

As part of its strategy for the mid-year peak season, Avianca will add seven additional frequencies per week on the route between Rio de Janeiro (Galleon) and Bogota, reaching three daily flights. This increase represents a growth of 14% in the company's global offering in Brazil compared to the same period of the previous year, going from 49 to a total of 56 weekly frequencies operated from its four bases in that country:

  • Sao Paulo (Guarulhos): 28 weekly departures (4 Daily flights).
  • Rio de Janeiro (Galleon): 21 weekly departures (3 Daily flights).
  • Manaos: 4 weekly departures.
  • White: 3 weekly departures.

Passengers coming from Brazil will have direct connections to the hub Bogota and facilities such as luggage dispatch directly to the final destination, optimizing transit times.

Reopening of the air bridge with western Venezuela

At the regional level, Avianca announced the start of ticket sales for its new direct route between maracaibo and Bogota, scheduled to start 28 august 2026. This daily operation represents the reactivation of connectivity for the State of Zulia, adding to the two daily flights that the company already operates from Caracas.

The route will be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft, configured with 180 seating, which will bring more than 2.500 weekly seats to the Venezuelan market.

Transatlantic expansion for the summer of 2026

The largest capacity bet will be registered in the intercontinental market, where Avianca will reach the 67 weekly frequencies between Europe and the Americas during the summer season.

Starting in June, The Barcelona-Bogotá route will double its offer to operate two daily flights (14 weekly frequencies). in addition, The Madrid-Bogotá route will be reinforced with two additional frequencies during June, July and August, consolidating four daily flights (28 weekly frequencies). Finally, The airline will reactivate its direct seasonal route between Madrid and San Salvador with four weekly frequencies, strengthening the flow to Central America.
