Textron recently reached a key milestone: the prototype of Cessna Citation CJ3 Gen3 completed its first flight, which drives the development of this new generation light jet towards certification.
With this achievement, the three light jets Citation next generation—the CJ4 Gen3, the CJ3 Gen3 and the M2 Gen3—have entered the flight testing phase, demonstrating the continued advancement of Cessna's next-generation light jet lineup.

First flight of the Cessna Citation CJ3 Gen3
Taking off from Wichita Dwight D National Airport. Eisenhower, Pilots Steve Helmer and Dave Wellbrock focused on testing software functionality in the cockpit during the first flight, almost two hours long. The aircraft reached a maximum altitude of 41 000 feet and a maximum indicated speed of 278 knots.
