In this new flight report we fly between Quito and Loja-Catamayo with Tame EP aboard an Embraer 190.

Taking advantage of a promotional rate that Tame EP he pulled out on this route and unexpectedly, encourage me to travel to Loja, what would be the fourth trip to that province, but above all, the fourth landing in the Ecuador's most difficult commercial airport.

The price of the passages can be high, but the promotion was $69 per person round trip including tax, quite acceptable for 1 hour flight to the extreme south of Ecuador and was bought last minute.

A trip that I had pending for a long time., since the past times he had not been able to know in so much detail such a large and beautiful province, more than anything I wanted to take advantage and see the flowering of the Guayacanes, but unfortunately, this year was brought forward, but forced to return another time.

On domestic flights, less Galapagos, Tame does allow web check-in, so I was finally able to use the service, since in the other trips with them to Fort Lauderdale and Baltra in Galapagos It was not possible as it was not available on those routes.

The flight

This flight is one of the first domestic flights of the day to take off from the Quito International Airport, with flight number EQ145.

As we reviewed in the popular post of the Why are there no more flights to Catamayo – Loja?, landings can only be made on the runway 07 and takeoffs down the runway 25, which makes its operation even more complex, which together with the weather and mountains is a challenge for the pilots, who are highly trained to land here.

  1. That Embraer looks brand new. very good post, I only doubt remains, if this is the most difficult "commercial" airport in Ecuador… which would be the most difficult in absolute terms?

    I have had to land in Loja several times , arriving from Quito is not so scary because the plane is big but from Guayaquil in those small planes , Holy God, you have to know how to pray a lot.
