Avianca Cargo reported that it transported more than 15.000 tons of flores for the celebration of Mother's Day 2021 from Ecuador and Colombia.
During mothering season 2021, the company mobilized more than 15.000 tons of flowers for mother's day. This volume corresponds to a growth in transported tons of 15% compared to the same period of the previous year, being a relevant supplier in the market in the season and that has allowed millions of mothers in different parts of the world to receive flowers for their celebration.
Avianca Cargo carried out 277 flights on A330F freighters, A300-600 and B767, They have capabilities ranging from 40 and 65 tons per flight and temperature controlled, essential for the logistics of this type of perishables. further, passenger flights were operated in Airbus 330 with destination Miami, transporting only cargo in the cabin and on the bellies, expanding the capacity offered by our freighters, these flights carried more than 220 tons of flower.
Exports of different varieties of flowers such as roses, carnations, chrysanthemums, pom poms and hydrangeas, They originate from Bogota, Medellin and Quito, mainly with initial destination Miami, where the company has the necessary infrastructure to carry out the process of receiving and delivering hundreds of tons of flowers in a single day. The day with the highest operating volume at this station was recorded on 27 April with about 870 tons and the 03 May with 836 tons, operating 16 flights per day.
Likewise, the company mobilized about 806 tons of flowers to Amsterdam and other destinations like Madrid, San Juan of Puerto Rico, The Angels and New York.
