American Airlines and GOAL partnership agreement completed, with what the North American invests $200 million in the brazilian.
American Airlines announced that it has signed a definitive investment agreement with GOAL, the largest airline in Brazil, deepening the relationship between the two airlines to create the widest network in the Americas. The combined networks will provide customers with more than 30 destinations in the USA served by American and more than 34 new destinations in South America attended by GOL.
American invests in GOL
American has served Latin America since 1942 and offers service to 17 destinations in South America, including Sao Paulo (TOWER CRANE) and Rio de Janeiro (GIG) in Brazil, from their EE centers. American has transported more than 14 million customers between USA and Brazil in the last 10 years, more than double that of any other US airline. GOAL serves 63 destinations in Brazil and is the largest airline in the country.
As part of the investment agreement previously announced last year, American will invest $200 million in 22,2 million newly issued GOL preferred shares in a capital increase, for a share of 5,2% in the economic interest of the company. The execution of the other agreements described, are subject to government and regulatory approvals.
Enhanced Joint Loyalty Offer
The largest network in the Americas will also be the most beneficial for travelers. On 2022, SMILES loyalty members from GOL and AAdvantage® from American will gain access to the benefits of their status on both airlines, as priority check-in, priority security, priority boarding, a higher checked baggage allowance, access to VIP rooms and preferred seats.
The two airlines also hope to offer an enhanced joint loyalty offer to give customers more ways to earn and redeem miles.

American Airlines is very interested in its operations in Latin America and I think it is an advantage it has over its competitors., I hope that other companies are also interested in expanding more to Latin America. Good post
