Cirium has revealed in a new report how the recovery of the capacity offered by the airlines of About America.
The Recovery advances in the region and is notorious at airports. The restrictions are finally being lifted and this has allowed airlines to gradually increase their offered seats, even some surpassing the pre numbers-pandemic.
Cirium's analysis of South America
With minimal government assistance, South American airlines faced the anguish of the pandemic era, possibly even more severe than in other regions with highly impaired capacity. LATAM, a powerful international competitor for decades and, with much, the largest airline in the continent, was forced to enter Chapter 11. same for Avianca, what (as you can see below) reduced capacity within South America at nearly double the rate of LATAM. The Brazilian GOAL, who came close to filing for bankruptcy, contracted in a percentage similar to that of Avianca.
One airline in particular is taking advantage of all the turmoil. Blue, based in Brazil, is bigger now than before the pandemic. Even more importart, Azul is already making strong profits again, posting an impressive operating margin of 14% during the fourth quarter of 2021.
Nevertheless, Azul is not the only South American airline that has grown since the beginning of COVID-19. Ditto for several low-cost airlines looking to take advantage of LATAM's big capacity cuts., Gol and Avianca. Viva, Sky Airline and JetSMART Those who took advantage of the weaknesses of the large companies to position themselves at a faster rate than they would have done without the pandemic fit into this category..
