Avianca Ecuador has requested a new route and this time will seek to have direct flights between Quito and Cancún.
A new route is being prepared in Avianca Group, this occasion by the hand of the Ecuadorian subsidiary of the airline that will seek to connect two destinations not previously served.
Surely as an extension of the flight that is also prepared between Buenos Aires and Quito to be able to feed the route in several ways (including San Jose, Bogota and Guayaquil), Avianca Ecuador has also requested flights to Cancun.

Early this August, the airline requested the modification of the operating permit, the same one that was approved on 27 last september, for the provision of the air transport service, public, international, regular, passenger, cargo and mail, in combined form, renewed and modified through Agreement No.. 020/2021 from 22 September 2021 with the aim of increasing this the following route:
- QUITO – CANCUN – QUITO, with up to seven (7) weekly frequencies.
The flights would operate with rights of third and fourth freedoms of the air operated by aircraft Airbus A319 O A320 operated by the subsidiary Avianca Ecuador.
As we always indicate, this order does not ensure a start of operations, but it does allow us to anticipate the commercial and growth plans of the airline based on the routes that they are requesting before the General Directorate of Civil Aviation of the Ecuador.
Now it will be a matter of time and that the different market indicators will be given for this route to finally materialize until the day of a potential inaugural flight., where would be the first time (at least in the last 20 years or that I remember) that an airline covers direct flights between Quito and Cancun.
