Was the 7 april 2005 when this Fokker 28 of the airline Icaro covering the flight 504 from Quito landed at Francisco de Orellana Airport in El Coca, but after bumping wheels a few meters before the start of the track, this would end in an accident without fatalities.
concretely, the F-28 registration HC-CDA ended up on the side of the runway and the Accident Investigation Board determined:
«The probable cause of the accident was the use during the approach and landing of a flight technique that contradicts what is established in the Pilot Operations Manual, Standar Operational Procedures Fokker F-28, page 46, of the operating company, indicating that the pilot must plan to stop the wheels 1.000 feet inside the track»
for the event, the plane was irreparably damaged, so it was declared a total loss, but his life carrying passengers did not end there.

Once the investigations of the case are concluded, the plane was bought by a local businessman, who according to people from the airport, he wanted to offer a new type of entertainment in the city and so he did.

for an undisclosed amount (at least from what i could find out), time after the accident, sin alas no motors and no part of the tail, the plane was transferred to the port of the city, where will he start his second life, at least for a time.
It was placed on a barge, perhaps he did not sail very long or his routes were short, but that certainly drew attention for years.
Time after, as we see in the cover photo of this post that was registered in the 2016, the Rumba Nautica project had already come to an end, definitively ending the life of this Fokker 28, that now in the 2022 looks like this:
A few weeks ago I visited The Coca and could not not investigate the current status of this plane, So, thanks to our friend Denny, we looked for the plane and found it completely abandoned and in terrible condition next to the Coca Bridge., where it has been several years ago according to what neighbors told us.
Now, It's just a nest of snakes, spiders, the wide flora and fauna of the Amazon, so it was not safe to enter (could not either) to see its interior and perhaps look for some memory of its time with Icaro as a logo, instrument or something.
Definitely, a piece of the history of our country has been forgotten and surely at some point it will be cut and there will be no memory other than photos, this post and the video I prepared for you.
