We did it on our own since we wanted to take the necessary time to fully enjoy this place when we travel with Maxitravel to this beautiful area of the Caribbean.

The Indigenous Eyes Ecological Reserve
entry is simple, a space with land with a wooden shed on the right, where is a person from the resort to receive the tickets. She told us that there 12 water eyes, where you can swim alone 4. The entrance is very ecological, made with dry straw from a large indigenous figure above the door to enhance the experience.

The walk begins in a kind of jungle, with marked trails and a lot of signage of where to go. A very natural experience, very quiet if you go early in the morning when there are not so many people.
Upon reaching the first eye, the signage indicates that you can swim in that place, and there are areas made of wood such as small bus stops with wooden benches where you can leave your things, change and go down stairs to the water.
In natural pools that are designated for public use, there is also usually a jump area. It comes out of the water, bordering the pool and finding a slightly elevated area about 3 maximum meters to do jumps and pirouettes.
We continue our journey, to meet beautiful water eyes in the middle of the jungle, we had seen them in photos thinking it was the tricky effect of photo editing but we were totally wrong. Each eye is impressive and you can see the pristine nature in each one of them as you can see species of fish and turtles swimming calmly..
The climate is cool since the concentration of trees does not allow much direct sun. The walks are always on dirt terrain but without elevations. It can be seen in the trees, birds and reptiles of the area.
each eye has a name, and we decided to go to bathe in the NAME OF THE EYE because there were very few people. The water is cold, compared to the warm waters of the Caribbean, but we couldn't stop swimming in turquoise waters.
Not seem, but the eyes are shallow, even so you can not step on the bottom but the crystal clear water is unmatched. We will be able to lean on a tree that was in the background and try to admire everything we can see with the water chamber.
Upon leaving, you can continue the walk to see more nature and reach the missing eyes and dry up during the rest of the route.
How to get to the Indigenous Eyes?
The best way to get there was to take a taxi or an Uber. It was a drive from our hotel Vik White Sand Point to the exclusive Punta Cana Resort Club, which took approximately 30 minutes. Suddenly you see how the infrastructure of the entrance to this place changes: palms, golf courses and carts, horses in their stables. Uff everything truly a luxury!
Inside the car, at the first entrance the taxi/Uber has to be registered with the security guard which tells you where to go to buy the tickets, which is in a reception located a few meters from the entrance to the Resort. The car has to take you to the reception to buy tickets and wait, since the official entrance to this place is about 7 minutes on the same road within the complex.
The cost of each ticket is $50 Dollars Americans per person and they only accept payment by credit card.
recommendations
- wear light clothing, Swimwear, a towel and comfortable shoes, the terrain is flat but on land, all things could get wet when visiting the natural pools. The wooden breaks of the same are spaces that have to be shared among all visitors.
- Sunscreen and repellent recommended, same as on the walk the trees protect a lot from the sun, not in the pools. On sunny days, It's better to prevent.
- If possible, bring a camera that can take photos or make videos underwater... it really is one of those places where the water is spectacular for this and you could take the best memory of this place.
- Bring a bottle of water, or snacks since there is nothing around to buy. Always remember to take the rubbish with you..
