The main attractions of the Air and Space Museum

Really, Telling you what are the main attractions that you will find here would be not very subjective, since it all depends on what you like more. Here you will find something for all tastes, history, general aviation, commercial, space and even cars, so it all depends on what you like.

Despite this, I'm going to tell you some, of the many attractions that you will find in this museum, that it will undoubtedly take them hours to finish touring and to know everything:

  • Wright brothers plane: the Flyer of 1903 which ushered in the era of aviation.
  • Apollo command module 11: the capsule that carried Neil Armstrong and company to the Moon in 1969.
  • Space Shuttle Discovery: vehicle used on the last space shuttle mission.
  • American by air: a great overview of the history of commercial aviation in the United States, there is even the cockpit of a Boeing 747.
  • Destination Moon: the entire history of the space race with original objects used by the astronauts, I loved.
  • Thomas W. Haas We All Fly: the history of business and general aviation, you will learn a lot about Cessna, Piper y Beechcraft.
  • Kenneth C. Griffin Exploring the Planets Gallery: if you like space exploration, you must visit this exhibition.

further, if you want to see the Space Shuttle Discovery, a Blackbird SR-71 and even a Concorde, you can move some 20 minutes to the Stephen F Center. Yard-Hazy, located in Chantilly, Virginia next to Washington Dulles International Airport, this center is an extension of the main Museum, with a larger space containing even more aircraft, spaceships and others.
