How many new planes will the airline industry for the next 20 years? This is the projection of Boeing to the market.
Within the framework of Paris Air Show 2023 which developed from 19 al 25 of June, the manufacturer Boeing presented its estimates of the number of new aircraft that will be needed in the coming 20 years, in a context of industry recovery faster than expected.

The new CMO comes three years after the pandemic grounded most of the world's fleet. Key findings include:
- Passenger traffic continues to outpace global economic growth 2,6%.
- The world fleet almost doubles 48.600 planes, expanding a 3,5% annual.
- Airlines replace about half of the world's fleet with new, more fuel-efficient models.

The projections of Boeing for regional demand and key trends up to 2042 include:
- Asia-Pacific markets represent more than 40% of global demand with half of that total in China.
- The South Asian fleet will expand more than 7% annual, the fastest rate in the world, with India representing more than 90% of passenger traffic in the region.
- North America and Europe will each represent about 20% of global demand.
- Low-cost airlines will operate more than 40% of the single aisle fleet in 2042, in front of 10% from ago 20 years.
- After omitting Russia and Central Asia demand at last year's CMO due to uncertainty in the region, This year's forecast covers Russia and Central Asia in the Eurasia region, which includes around 3% of the world fleet to 2042.
- Commercial Services forecasts a total market served worth $ 3.8 trillions, including digital solutions that increase efficiency and reduce costs; strong demand for parts and supply chain solutions; increase maintenance and modification options; and effective training to improve safety and support pilot and technical pipeline.
Also in the forecast period of 20 years, Boeing anticipates demand for these models:
- The new single-aisle aircraft will represent more than 75% of all new deliveries, slightly above the outlook for 2022, and will total more than 32,000 planes.
- The new wide-body aircraft will be almost the 20% of deliveries, more than 7.400 aircraft that will allow airlines to open new markets and serve existing routes more efficiently.
- Air cargo will continue to outpace global trade growth, with carriers that require 2.800 dedicated freighters. This includes more than 900 new widebody models, as well as converted narrowbody and widebody models.
