Avianca announced that it will have a new direct route, with connecting flights Brasilia – Bogota by the end of the year.
Avianca announced today that it will request the aeronautical authorities of Colombia and Brazil the operation of a new direct route between Brasilia and Bogotá for the end of year season (Winter 2024).
«Colombia and Brazil are two of the most important air markets on the continent. Added to this, Bogotá and Brasilia are two of the most relevant hubs in Latin America. Hence, we are studying this possibility to continue connecting more clients., strengthening our cargo operation, promoting tourism and business, not only between Colombia and Brazil, but also with our network of more than 75 destinations in 25 countries», say Frederico Pedreira, CEO and president of Avianca.
Strengthening connectivity between Colombia and Brazil
The new route between Brasilia and Bogota would complement the frequencies requested by the airline GOAL for the same journey. Currently, Both airlines have an agreement shared code and interline connections in more than 80 routes and 60 Destinations, allowing passengers to connect between both companies' networks.
The operation between Brasilia and Bogotá would represent a milestone for both countries, since it would allow connecting two of the main hubs of GOL and Avianca. From the two capitals, airlines operate at more than 80 destinations with more than 310 Daily flights.
Current Avianca connectivity between Colombia and Brazil
Weekly frequencies currently operating between both countries by Avianca:
- Bogota – São Paulo: 21
- Bogota – Rio de Janeiro: 11
- Bogota – Manaos: 4
- Bogota – Belo Horizonte: 3
- Total operation: 39
More of 550.000 passengers transported in 2023
On 2023, Avianca transported more than 550.000 customers between Colombia and Brazil. The airline currently offers four direct routes that connect Bogotá with São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Manaos.
At the global level, Avianca opera 140 routes in more than 75 destinations in 25 American and European countries.
