LATAM Airlines Group announced the incorporation of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner equipped with GE Aerospace GEnx engines, becoming the first airline group to have this model in South America.
The aircraft took off from Charleston, South Carolina (USA) until Santiago de Chile, and will be integrated into the group's long-range operation in the coming days.
According to information provided by the manufacturer, the engines GEnx (General Electric next-generation) allow a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 15% compared to the previous generation, in addition to lower CO₂ and NOx emissions, noise reduction and higher levels of reliability and durability.

This incorporation is part of the group's fleet growth and modernization plan that allowed it to close 2025 count on 371 planes, after the incorporation of 26 new aircraft during the year, all latest generation models. For 2026 the group LATAM projects the arrival of 41 new planes, –including the first Embraers in the fleet– and 27 additional aircraft in 2027 –including his first Airbus A321XLR.
