the spanish airline Iberia presented his special painting proposal for the upcoming celebration of 100 years of foundation in 2027.

Less than one hundred days to welcome the year 2027, Hispanic commercial aviation prepares to celebrate a historic milestone: the first 100 years of Iberia.

at a special event, the president of the airline, Marco Sansavini, officially presented the commemorative program of activities along with the expected livery or special paint of the Centennial that several of the company's aircraft will wear.

Founded in June 1927, The Spanish airline looks back on a century of history uniting Europe and Latin America, as it accelerates its strategic and fleet transformation into the future.

​One of the most notable announcements for aviation enthusiasts and industry analysts is the special Centennial livery. This distinctive design will dress a selection of short-term aircraft, medium and long range airline, turning them into true flying ambassadors of Iberia's history in all the airports to which it operates.

A program with a strong presence in Latin America and Spain

​The Centennial will have an international projection with a direct focus on Latin America, the company's main long-range market:

  • ​New Iberia International spaces: After the consolidation of the Iberia Space in Madrid (that will open on the iconic Calle Alcalá 44), The airline will transfer this experience to Buenos Aires, Bogota, Mexico City and Sao Paulo.
  • ​Great institutional event in La Muñoza (June 2027): Coinciding with the month of foundation of the company, The hangars and maintenance center in Madrid will be the epicenter of the main commemoration.
  • Culture and youth: Cultural links at the House of America, boosting young talent with the Generation project 27, and a business meeting with the CEOE at the Madrid Stock Exchange.
  • shared tribute: Special celebration with the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano (which also meets 100 years in 2027 and shares the founder Horacio Echevarrieta).

  • High-level gastronomic proposal: Alliance with the Royal Academy of Gastronomy to bring the best emblematic Spanish products on board and to its VIP lounges (highlighting the recent opening of the Emerald Sorolla Room in T4 of Madrid-Barajas).

​Fleet Growth and the Flight Plan 2030

​Backed by an investment plan of 6.000 millions of euros, Iberia continues the execution of its Flight Plan 2030 with the expansion of the long-haul fleet of 43 airplanes at the beginning of 2025, the airline already has 51 aircraft and plans to reach a fleet close to the 70 widebody units.

The incorporation of this single-aisle, ultra-long-range model has allowed the inauguration of new destinations such as Orlando, Recife, Fortaleza, Toronto y Monterrey.
