Delta Air Lines

Delta to retire MD-88 and MD-90 aircraft earlier than previously planned, and both types of aircraft will leave the fleet starting in June 2020. The accelerated retirement schedule for both aircraft is a result of the COVID-19 pandemic as capacity is reduced across the system.. Delta reduced its overall active fleet by half, parking more than 600 planes in the last two months.

The MD-88 of 149 seats were already scheduled to be removed at the end of 2020. Starting February this year, before coronavirus-driven fleet reduction, there was 47 MD-88y 29 MD-90 in operation.

Both aircraft operated across much of Delta's domestic network and have been workhorses for the airline..

Delta continues to evaluate its fleet plan further and will consider additional aircraft retirements to focus on a modern, more streamlined fleet in the future..

  1. At least this will help these airlines to manage their capital in a better way since, especially in the case of Delta the M.D.. They were not so economical due to their age., and in the case of virgin, 2 engines are better than 4 TRUE?
