The airline Avianca Ecuador goes for flights to Cuenca and also requested to be able to operate more frequencies to Galapagos (Baltra and San Cristobal).
The Ecuadorian subsidiary of Avianca Holdings requested the second week of July 2020 a modification to your current operating permit in Ecuador, so potentially, be able to fly to the city of Cuenca again and increase extra frequencies to the Galapagos Islands.
In the request made before the National Civil Aviation Council of Ecuador – CNAC, the airline requested the following:

In this modification request, the airline requests to increase the following routes and frequencies:
- Quito and / or Guayaquil – Baltra – Guayaquil – quit with 5 additional frequencies.
- Quito and / or Guayaquil – San Cristobal – Guayaquil – quit with 2 additional frequencies.
- Quito – Cuenca – Quito with up 14 weekly frequencies.
with this order, Avianca Ecuador would add its eighth national destination along with Guayaquil, Quito, Manta, Coca, Sour Lake (pending start), San Cristobal and Baltra, and would increase to a total of 35 weekly frequencies to Galapagos requesting frequencies that were previously assigned to Tame EP.
Let's remember that Avianca Ecuador (back then Aerogal-Avianca) stopped flying to the Mariscal La Mar Airport on 14 of January of 2015, at that time due to an oversupply in the market, but now with the Tame EP liquidation, a space opens again in the always important Cuenca market, where will compete with LATAM Ecuador and Aeroregional.
Taking into account the current situation of world and Ecuadorian aviation, we cannot expect an immediate start of this route, once it is approved, but yes in the short term once the requirements are met and also, the market is more promising for the inauguration of a route.
Hopefully new news soon.

If it seems excellent to me, they will be covering the demand of Ecuadorians who need it,,Avianca is also very good Aherolina ?????
This is excellent news for Galapagos, Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca due to the lack of frequencies due to the exit of the TAME EP market.
If Avianca is authorized the route from Quito to Cuenca, around what month would we be seeing the airline fly to Cuenca?
Due to the current situation, I would aim for the last quarter of the year.
