These are the new entry requirements for Galapagos and Ecuador plus their respective protocols for travelers.
Whether for domestic flights, where only Galapagos has required sanitary requirements, as for all travelers on international flights, Ecuador updated its protocols.
Seeking to unify the different requirements that apply to travelers to Ecuador mainland as for Galapagos, the National COE will put into effect from the 1 July 2021 new requirements for travelers in the following terms:
- Have the Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, Ministry of Tourism and Government Council of the Special Regime of Galapagos that, within the scope of its powers, issue the "Guidelines for Entry by Air to the Country and the Galapagos Archipelago", in the following terms:
- Presentation of a negative result of a negative RT-PCR or antigen test for detection of COVID-19, of maximum 72 hours prior to the trip counting from the sampling (those under 2 years are exempt from the presentation of these tests); O,
- Presentation of the COVID-19 vaccination card or its equivalent, with full schematic, as appropriate, the same one that must be in force at least 14 days before the flight.
- For all travelers whose point of origin is Brazil, You must present an RT test- Negative PCR or negative antigen test performed until 72 hours before arrival in Ecuador; even though this test is negative, Upon entering Ecuador, you must carry out ten (10) days of isolation at home or at any place of accommodation at the free choice and at the cost of the traveler.
- For people who present a vaccination card or its equivalent with a complete schedule and validity of at least 14 days before the flight, They will NOT carry out isolation.
- For the entry of tourists, nationals or foreigners to the Galapagos Islands, compliance with the literals will be requested to) o b) of this resolution, in addition to the transit control card issued by the Galapagos Government Council, eliminating the safe-conduct managed by a tour operator or by an accommodation regulated by the Ministry of Tourism (Except for the safe-conduct for tour leaders established in article 12 of the Regulation of Tourist Guidance for the Special Regime of the Province of Galapagos).
- This provision shall enter into force from the 23h59 del 30 June 2021, will be the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, and; the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, the governing entities of the socialization of this provision.
This is a positive measure for the reactivation of local tourism, Specially in Galapagos where its economy depends mostly on tourist income.
