In this new report we will be flying with United Airlines from Houston to Quito and a Boeing 737-700.

Welcome to a new flight report, this time in a new airline that reaches this segment in the blog, we were able to fly with United Airlines to Quito in one of its 9 weekly frequencies with which it currently operates to the capital.

coming back from USA, and after having also flown with Frontier Airlines as I told you in your respective report, today we are going to learn more about what it is like to fly with United.

United operates one daily flight from Monday to Sunday, but since June it has again implemented two additional flights operating on Fridays and Sundays, this is how these flights are.

Flying United from Houston to Quito

Before getting into the matter, I want to tell you that at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport there are many options to do spotting from its different terminals, so if you want to entertain yourself for a while, there is a lot of traffic with which hang out, for sample:

Now yes, let's get into the matter. If they will be traveling from Houston connecting, they must be very attentive to the gate assigned for their flight, since this can change from one second to another due to the delay of the assigned aircraft or simply due to operational issues.

There are hundreds of flights that take off from Houston. Can you see the flight to Quito?

As an example, above you can see that there are a hundred flights and gate changes do occur, in fact even with terminal changes. In my case I experienced it on the flight arriving from Quito, I had gate C11 and I had to go to B20, using the train and walking fast to get there, so keep this in mind.

Most of the time, flights to Quito depart from gates E, but as you can see the space is somewhat tight and crowds are generated, keep your own distance.

As in the vast majority of airlines in the world, even before the pandemic, boarding is by groups, which is well indicated on the boarding pass and in United there are signs showing where each person must board.

I call on you to respect the order of boarding and thus avoid crowds, In the image below we see a family that had a group 5 to board, despite the fact that I asked them if they were a group 1 they insisted yes, until the United staff arrived to review the passes and they earned a wake-up call.

Let's avoid these problems and respect the indications, which is given in Spanish and English so it is impossible to miss, since these actions delay the boarding processes and are issues that the staff requests more than once to avoid delays.

Gate C9 was assigned for the flight to Quito.

a great recommendation, use airline mobile apps, every day they are better and useful. For example, the Untied one allows you to do more than the basics of the boarding pass, Flight information, puerta, silla, etc. you can too:

  • Track your suitcase in real time, you can see where it's coming from, where is he and where is he going. So if it does not reach its destination you have first-hand information to recover it.
  • Something that I loved as AvGeek is that you can see from which previous destinations the plane you are going to fly arrived in case there is any delay.
  • You can also manage your preferences for extras or buy United Club passes for example.

For more details of the flight I share the respective video of the report:

Let's approach:

United gives you a disinfectant wipe to clean your stand, screens, etc. despite the fact that the airline did it prior to boarding.

It should be noted that the flight departed on a 99% full, no more than two seats were free, despite the occupation, The airline very kindly upgraded from economy class seat 27A to 4A in Business class., so this report has changed considerably in order to show you its benefits.

From United Business Class seat A4. All seats have individual screens with live Direct TV channels and trending movie channels that restart every time they finish. There is also WiFi service on board that can be paid for, but only has coverage within the United States.

On this occasion, flight UA1035 operated on the Boeing 737-724 with license plate N27724, serial number MSN28791, configured with 12 seats in Business and 114 in economics and with 22 years since his first flight in 1999 con Continental.

Something that caught my eye on United flights, are the permanent announcements of the use of a mask, they even offer you free masks if you don't have one and if you are not able to use it for the entire duration of the flight, you must communicate it so that they look for another way to take you to your destination.

do you wear a mask? yes and always, only for food or drinks you can temporarily remove it. Also here you can see what the Business seats are like.

This is the famous traveler's form that must be filled out in order to enter Ecuador. The MSP doctors ask you, you must fill one per family.

Flying on United business has some benefits like priority boarding, personalized services, an excellent gastronomic offer, priority landing and even, Free Internet (only coverage within the United States) and seats that recline extra and with more space – comfort.

Food service in business class, there were two options: meat and ravioli. the excellent taste, very good portion and very wide choice of drinks, but without alcohol.

Although the individual screen is not as interactive as that of other airlines, nor is its programming offer wide, yes it has the map so it is a point for me 😀

In general terms, the flight was very good and with a very high level of service from people and food service, that stays in economy class, but with the difference that the service is drinks and snacks only.

The flight from the height of Panama approximately was very moved until the landing, where Quito received us with its traditional cold and heavy rain that made the approach more lively, but thank you at dawn, passengers didn't even feel it.
