SKY, a low-cost airline based in Chile, has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321neo on lease from Air Lease Corporation.

In this way, SKY becomes the first airline to Chile in operating the A321neo, which shares a common type rating with other members of the Airbus A320 Family, allowing A320 pilots to fly the aircraft without additional training.

The airplanes A321neo of SKY are equipped with CFM Leap-1A engines and have the capacity to 238 passengers in a two-class arrangement. SKY is the first airline in South America to operate the A321neo with a high-density cabin configuration.

The A321neo has a 95 percent similarity in the fuselage with the Airbus A320 family, fitting perfectly with SKY's existing fleet of 19 A320neo. This aircraft incorporates new generation engines and Sharklets, which together provide more than one 20 percent fuel and CO2 savings, as well as noise reduction 50 percent.
SKY is a client of Airbus from 2010 and became sole operator Airbus in 2013. The A321neo will allow the airline to further expand its offer of routes in Latin America in the near future.
Airbus has sold more than 1.100 aircraft and has an order book of almost 430 aircraft to deliver in Latin America and the Caribe. Currently, Airbus has more than 660 aircraft in operation throughout the region, which represents approximately 60 percent market share of fleet in service. From 1994, Airbus has achieved almost 70 percent of net orders in the region.
