Delta and LATAM announced in 2019 that would form the leading airline association in America, with the goal of significantly expanding travel options in North and South America by offering an industry-leading customer experience. Since then, the partners have achieved a number of milestones including the accumulation/mutual redemption of miles frequent flyer; reciprocal elite frequent flyer benefits; shared terminals at hub airports such as New York JFK, Sao Paulo, Brazil and Santiago, Chile; and mutual access to 53 Delta Sky Club lounges in the United States and five LATAM lounges in South America, including Delta's spectacular new Sky Club in The Angels and the new LATAM Lounge Santiago de Chile, the largest customer lounge in South America.

On 2020, Delta and LATAM introduced their first codeshare services in South America, and in 2021 expanded codeshare services to 20 routes between USA and the region, plus connections to a wide range of national and regional destinations from its Atlanta hubs, New York and Los Angeles, Santiago, Lima, Bogota and Sao Paulo, improving connectivity between the two regions.

It should be noted, that at the moment LATAM Airlines Ecuador is not part of this JV since the signing of the agreement is still pending Open skies with the United States.
