Today we review what the plans are, challenges and strategies Avianca for the future 2023, advancing in its transformation process.

Restarting its operations in the midst of the pandemic and at that time within a process of Chapter 11, The airline Avianca It has been evolving, changing its line of business in a process focused on being more profitable and attracting more travelers who seek to customize their trip by paying less.

In this way, In this blog I have been telling you which have been the pillars of this transformation, where one of its most important changes occurred with the new chairs and configuration in the A320 fleet since the 2021. In a media meeting with the Avianca CEO Adrian Neuhauser in Bogota, we were able to know in depth the current and future of the airline.

Avianca towards the 2023

But this transformation did not only occur in the seats and has also occurred in process improvements, acquisition of technology to better serve the claims of its users, sale menu on board and much more. A) Yes Avianca already embarks on the plans of the 2023.

But before reviewing what will be given in the 2023, Let's review some important indicators of what Avianca achieved during the 2022, just fulfilling 103 of history:

  • Shareholders announced agreement with GOL's controlling shareholder to create Grupo Abra.
  • Throwing of 21 routes, mostly point to point without going through Bogotá.
  • Fleet simplification with the departure of ATR and Airbus 330; the airline will operate only Airbus 320 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
  • reconfiguration of 65 Airbus aircraft 320 to offer 20% more capacity with 3 differentiated seats.
  • Updating and simplification of the tariff scheme to offer 4 sizes in america (XS, S, M, L) and 5 sizes to and from Europe (S, M, L, XL, XXL).
  • Launch of the new on-board sales service for flights in the Americas from 1 from December.
  • More of 15 new additional services (ancillaries) that allow you to customize your trips.
  • More of 1.400 employees for customer service.
  • reduction in 75% the time of refunds to less than 30 days and more than 90% of applications were processed.
  • Avianca Cargo announced the incorporation of 3 a 4 A330 P2F aircraft for 2024.

Avianca has an operation in 24 countries flying to 67 Destinations, with 129 routes and more than 3.800 weekly flights, of which 91 routes and 3.000 flights are only in Colombia. In context, Avianca currently mobilizes more than 22.6 millions of travelers and challenges abound too.

price of aviation fuel a 45% more expensive, inflation in Latin America, strengthening of the dollar and competition are some of the obstacles that the airline and the industry in general are currently going through and will shape the 2023, even more so for Avianca that waits with the appeal action for its plan to be approved with Viva.

Specific, for him 2023 Avianca's main axes will be the following:

  • Consolidation of Abra Group.
  • Joint application with Viva to be part of the same business group.
  • Launch of more than 20 new point to point routes.
  • Completion of the reconfiguration project in the A320 fleet.
  • fleet incorporation (16 A320 NEO, 11 A320 CEO y 3 B787).

  1. Good evening, Do you know something about the new seating configuration of the Avianca B787-8?, since now in the flight purchase process they offer 3 types of seats as in the A319 and 320.

Do the pluses have more space than the economy in this 787?

    Thanks.

  2. As long as they don't give better long distance service, example, Bogota – Montevideo, where the service on board is super low cost, they will lose traffic to COPA, they can't be so stingy and/miserable and not give anything to eat…..and with what they charge they can give a meal on board….become a low cost, you have to announce it and not hide it.

  3. Hi Nicolas. New routes to Europe from Bogotá, if you know something? years ago they said of Rome or Zurich. They also need to reactivate the route to Munich. Thanks

Avianca On Air has not yet been implemented? I think they should implement that before offering flights of more than 4 hours without entertainment. But some planes have wifi if I'm not mistaken or not?
