Colombian airline Wingo announced that it is strengthening its operation in the domestic market of Colombia since it increases flights in a 79%.

Wingo reinforces its operation in the Colombian domestic market with the launch of three new routes, the increase in frequencies on routes already operated and the designation of greater capacity on routes to Saint Andrew. Total, the airline increases its domestic operation by a 79% and with this it seeks to contribute to the stability of the air sector in Colombia, with a greater offer of low-cost seats on domestic flights.

Wingo increases flights

“We are aware that the airline industry in Colombia has had recent episodes that affect the availability of seats on domestic flights., That is why we have decided to increase our capacity on domestic flights to expand the offer, from the low cost model, y continuar así aportando al crecimiento del mercado aéreo nacional” expresó Jorge Jiménez, Commercial and Planning Director of Wingo.

Barranquilla, Bucaramanga and Pereira from Bogota, three new Wingo routes

Wingo will add these three destinations to your home network from Bogota. The airline will offer four weekly frequencies for each route which will start in stages. The first to take off will be the route to Barranquilla, the 15 of May, then it will be the turn of the route to Pereira, the 5 of June, and the last to take flight will be the route to Bucaramanga, the 12 of June.

Total, the airline will make available to the market about 19 thousand seats a month on these routes, It is also the only operational low cost airline to offer direct flights from these three cities to the capital of the country.. Sales of these new routes are now available on Wingo.com with introductory promotional fares starting at COP 99.900 one way.

Saint Andrew, with 58% more than flights

Wingo responds to the call of the National Government to offer more capacity to the Island of San Andrés and will increase by a 58% the operation of its two active routes to the archipelago that take off from Cartagena and Barranquilla. The airline will offer an additional frequency per week from 21 of May, for the route from the Ernesto Cortissoz; and one additional flight per week from 16 of April, for the route from Rafael Nuñez. These additional flights are now available for sale on Wingo.com.

On the other hand, the airline will start next 1 April a series of charter flight operations from Bogotá and Medellín to San Andrés. In total they are 516 additional flights for the rest of the 2023 that will be marketed directly by Bogotá tour operators and Medellin, como On Vacation, dovecote travel, Mayorplus and Travel Groups.

By adding charter operations, the airline adds 658 additional flights per year, growing in a 112% its operation to San Andrés and thus contributing to the tourist and economic reactivation of the archipelago.

196 additional flights on domestic routes already operated

As a complement to its strategy to strengthen the Colombian domestic market, Wingo will also add 196 flights on your current route network. The main routes benefiting from this increase in seats are those that connect Bogota with Medellin, Santa Marta and Cartagena. These additional flights are already published on the airline's website for travel dates during the month of April, Being a convenient alternative for the Easter holiday season.

From Wingo The analysis of the need for the domestic market to have a greater supply of chairs at low cost will continue., in order to increase its operation on the routes where it identifies a demand opportunity.

Finally, Wingo reminds its users that it is a company that is owned and fully supported by Copa Holdings.
