The airline Avianca began flights from Medellin (Black river) toward City of Panama and also towards São Paulo on Brazil.
As part of its plan to consolidate the largest network in its history, Avianca began the operation of two new routes with which it will continue to strengthen the international connectivity of Medellín. Since december, Customers can enjoy two daily frequencies on the Medellín-Panama City route and three weekly flights between Medellín and São Paulo.

“The inauguration of these two new routes, added to the five that we have already inaugurated this year in Medellín and the entry into operation of the route to Guayaquil in the coming days, represents a significant increase in the international connectivity of the city and Colombia, giving our clients access to new destinations. This increase in international supply represents for Medellín a total supply 30 routes for closure of 2024”, said David Aleman, Avianca Sales Director for Colombia and South America.
“The importance of directly connecting Antioquia and Medellín is reaffirmed with these new options for our travelers, who through Panama will be able to access the world, as well as enjoy the magic and beauty of Brazil. With these two new alternatives, our air terminal is approaching 3,5 million international passengers with 25 routes in 2024”, stated Javier Andrés Benítez Ríos, manager of the José María Córdova International Airport.
The new routes are operated on fleet aircraft Airbus A320, with capacity for 180 Travellers, which represents more than 5.000 chairs between Medellín and Panama City per week, and more of 1.000 weekly seats on the Medellín-São Paulo route.
