United Airlines made the first flight of a mainline aircraft equipped with high-speed internet Starlink in a Boeing 737-800.

United has made history at 8:00 a.m. (Eastern Time), when the flight 2940 took off from Newark/New York with destiny to Houston, marking the first time a major US airline has offered Starlink Wi-Fi on a flight of its main fleet, with connectivity to both personal devices and in-flight entertainment screens. The airline plans to install Starlink in up to 15 planes 737-800 of your main fleet every month; at the moment, more than half of its regional fleet already has this technology. By the end of the year, United hopes to have an additional aircraft type certified to offer Starlink.

United already flies with Starlink

  • Connect multiple devices at once: Customers will be able to access Starlink on all devices at the same time, like your seat screen, your phone, your tablet, your computer and more.

The first regional flight of United equipped with Starlink took place on a regional plane in May 2025, and the airline already has Starlink installed on more than half of the aircraft in its regional fleet. Initial customer ratings on those flights have been notable, since the 90% of customers appreciate the ability to stream on board with the high-speed connection, easy to use and consistent from Starlink.

The deployment of Starlink in the fleet of United aligns with the airline's plans to have more than 300,000 seatback screens across its fleet — more than any other US airline. U.S.—as it takes delivery of hundreds of new planes and modernizes existing aircraft. In recent years, United has invested billions of dollars in improving customer experience and, by offering greater value to customers, the airline seeks to gain stronger brand loyalty.
