Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines announced that Africa's largest airline ordered nine aircraft 787 Dreamliner, as demand for long-distance travel continues to rise.
Ethiopian Airlines will use the planes 787-9 to expand your route network, which currently covers 145 international destinations.
The last purchase of 787 by the airline occurs after the commitment of 11 planes 737 MAX announced in the Dubai Air Show. Both orders were completed in December 2025 and increase the order book Ethiopian Airlines with a total of 20 fuel-efficient Boeing aircraft.

The capacity and efficiency of 787 Dreamliner, which reduces fuel consumption and emissions by 25% compared to the aircraft it replaces, enables Ethiopian Airlines to transport passengers point-to-point across Africa, while accommodating cargo in the aircraft hold for high-demand commercial routes.
From 2011, the family 787 Dreamliner has helped airlines open more than 520 new non-stop routes between city pairs that have never been operated before, carrying more than a billion passengers.
