In this installment we review what the immigration and entry document requirements are. St Martin.

You call him San Martin, St. Marten, Saint Maarten o St Martin, it's a small, but beautiful island that continues to attract more tourists every day aviation lovers (for Maho Beach) and the general public who are looking for a Caribbean paradise.

Since I started publishing the content I generated during my visit to this island, many have asked me about the requirements to be able to travel to Sint Maarten, which despite being an independent territory of Netherlands and France, They are very simple for most countries.

Requirements to travel and enter Sint Maarten

Sint Maarten is an autonomous state of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and France (Saint Marten) located in the Caribbean and is divided into two parts: the french side, which is the greatest, and the Dutch side, which is smaller.

General requirements

The immigration requirements for entry to Sint Maarten are as follows:

  • Passport: All visitors must have a valid passport with a minimum validity of six months.
  • Visa: Citizens of most countries they do not need a visa to visit Sint Maarten for a period of up to 90 days. Nevertheless, citizens of some countries, like Cuba, North Korea and Syria, yes they need visa.
    • I recommend visiting the official website of Sint Maarten to see the latest list of countries that require a visa to enter..
  • immigration card: All visitors must complete an immigration card upon arrival on the island, which is completed directly with the immigration agent who will ask you for information about your stay..
  • travel documents: Visitors must have travel documents proving their purpose of travel, like a return ticket and a hotel reservation.
  • Health insurance: Visitors are recommended to have health insurance to cover medical expenses in case of an emergency.

further, Travelers who are citizens of countries not belonging to the European Union Visitors visiting Sint Maarten must meet the following specific requirements:

  • Return ticket: Visitors must have a return ticket or hotel reservation that covers their stay in Sint Maarten.
  • Travel purpose: Visitors must have travel documents proving their purpose of travel, such as an invitation letter from a Sint Maarten resident or a hotel reservation.
  • Economy ways: Visitors must demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to cover their expenses during their stay in Sint Maarten.
    • Presenting a credit card is valid and sufficient.

Entry requirements in response to COVID-19

All health requirements regarding COVID-19 have been eliminated and no type of certificate or test is required to be presented.

How to get to Sint Maarten

From Latin America There are two alternatives regarding flights, one is with Copa Airlines via Panama and another with Arajet for Santo Domingo, Therefore, I recommend checking directly with these airlines about the days of operation and connection options to Princess Juliana International Airport., located on the dutch side.

Touring Sint Maarten: to do, know and visit

Visitors can also reach St Martin on cruise. There are several cruise ships that stop at the island during their journey through various points of Caribbean.

hello! I have seen that being Spanish you can be 3 months there but I understand that you still have to have a return ticket, right??

  2. Nicolás then does not request a visa to enter St Marteen? And you also know if they ask Ecuadorians for a visa to enter St Barths, Gustavia who is next?

  3. A small correction Nicholas: Saint Martin has an area of 87 km2 (34 sq mi), 53 km2 (20 sq mi) of which are French sovereignty, and 34 km2 (13 sq mi) under dutch sovereignty. The largest part of the territory is the French, not the dutch one.
