Thus, The government recently announced the purchase and repowering of material for the Armed Forces, Let's review what was discussed on the topic of aviation.
Ecuador will acquire new aircraft and repower others
Recently, a note resonated in the country's news, This was the investment of 700 billions of dollars for military spending over the next few years. This in signed contracts and pre-agreements with advance payments delivered for everything mentioned both for new aircraft and for maintenance and repowering of existing ones., as well as the construction of the new Mariscal Sucre Air Base.
Among the maintenance and repowering, there was talk of the commissioning of a total of 10 planes Embraer A-29B Super Tucano from Ecuadorian Air Force for interception and aerial reconnaissance. Pitifully, nowadays, of the fleet of a total of 17 aircraft of this type, only 2 they fly. But it is estimated that by the end of 2024 approximately between 8 and 10 Super Tucano are operational.
Continuing with maintenance and repowering, there was talk of the commissioning of 8 helicopters, which are theorized to be the Bell TH-57 and I like the AW-119 Koala from the FAE and perhaps some from the Army and/or Naval Aviation.
What's more, As a primary part of the repowering of equipment is the commissioning of transport aircraft such as the FAE Lockheed L-100-30 which has been standing since approximately 2021 at the Cotopaxi Air Base and the prompt operation of the 3 transport aircraft HOUSE C-295 since only 1 is currently operational. For these maintenance, last 15 of September the DIAF and the FAE signed the contracts to carry out inspections and maintenance of both the L-100-30 and the two CASA C-295, so we will soon see them flying again in Ecuador.
Regarding new equipment, there is talk of the purchase of a Lockheed C-130H Hercules for the Ecuadorian Air Force from USA, which in theory will arrive in November of this year. What's more, the purchase of 5 semi-new helicopters Super Puma for Army Aviation and the possible acquisition of 2 HOUSE C-295, one for Army transportation and another for Naval Aviation with technology for maritime exploration. This added to spare parts for all the CASA of the Armed Forces, so the soon return to service of the Army's CASA CN-235 would be expected, as well as other aerial means of the Armed Forces. FAE as training aircraft and future maintenance of aircraft currently in service.
Added to all teams, The topic of the construction of the new one was raised again. Mariscal Sucre Air Base in the current Quito Airport in order to mobilize the Wing 11 of Transport of the FAE back to the capital, since since the closure of the old airport in 2013, This was moved to Latacunga Cotopaxi Airport.
All these objectives in terms of military aviation would be fully met until 2026, But as progress, all the contracts and agreements have already been signed, in addition to having been given financial advances that give rise to all of the above.. It is now a matter for the next Ecuadorian Head of State to follow this plan and realize it in its entirety..

And fighter planes would have to buy the two Ecuadorian branches.
Of course, but what are the two branches you are referring to??
Great news. A few years ago I had several C130s, some donated by the USA., Super Puma AS332 Puma AS330, Larks, Lamas, Casas, In short, throughout our country and not to mention the east was covered with aircraft for Wings for Health programs., weekly logistics for Galapagos, crew training and many more. Good news. The radars that were destroyed in Manabí are missing.
Thank you for your input Osvaldo., I read somewhere that they have already acquired another radar or radars for that type of surveillance, but I haven't heard more.
