The airline Aeromexico recover their flights to the Quito airport, operating again with seven weekly frequencies from Mexico City.
The pandemic passed and in the middle the removal of Mexico visa for Ecuadorians. These two events stopped the connectivity between Ecuador and Mexico affecting the number of frequencies between both nations.
Despite the challenge and the fall in demand, which was mainly generated by the visa requirement for Ecuador, the market has been recovering organically thanks to the traditional commercial exchange, cultural and touristic that exists between both countries. Thanks to this recovery, Aeromexico has translated it into an increase in frequencies.
Aeroméxico recovers its flights to Quito
let's remember, that prior to the pandemic in the 2019, the airline came to operate with up to 2 daily flights from Benito Juárez – MEX to Mariscal Sucre – UIO and also at the time had flights to Guayaquil, suspended in the 2 October 2019.
After restarting flights in June 2020, Aeroméxico has been gradually increasing its frequencies to Quito, going from 3 weekly flights to the current seven frequencies (a daily flight), which operate at the following times:
- Flight AM684 takes off from Mexico City at 00:35 hours and lands at 05:39 hours in Quito after 4 hours and 24 minutes.
- Flight AM685 takes off at 09:01 from Quito and lands in Mexico City at 12:45 hours after 4 hours and 44 minutes.
It should be noted, that since the third week of January 2023, the airline modified its operating hours in Quito in terms of departure and arrival times, which allows both going and coming back to better connect with cities such as Manta, Cuenca, Guayaquil and others, thus improving connectivity options in both directions. Also the destination options in Central and North America from Mexico City.
These daily flights are operated by planes Boeing 737-800 configured for 160 passengers in two classes: 16 in business and 144 in Economic and also by planes Boeing 737 MAX in their versions 8 and 9.
In the airline's reservation system, the daily flight is permanently loaded without an upcoming reduction, but this will be subject to demand and changes that may occur in the market.
