For the first time a Boeing 787 Dreamliner from KLM landed in Ecuador from Amsterdam operating flights to Quito and Guayaquil.

After several years, dutch airline KLM landed in Quito and Guayaquil with a new plane for its operations between Ecuador and the Netherlands.

Last 7 of May, the royal dutch airline arrived at the Ecuador operating with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for the first time. Let us remember that KLM only operated the Boeing 777-200ER and -300ER in our country by offering greater cargo and passenger capacity.
In the middle of 2015, there was talk of the possibility that Quito and Guayaquil are the first destinations of KLM with his new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, replacing its Boeing 777-200ER and -300ER, operating in the country since October 2011 when the legendary MD-11 were removed from said route.
Pitifully, due to operational issues with the cargo handled by the airline on passenger flights, the arrival of the B787 in Ecuador did not materialize and KLM operated to other destinations with this same aircraft and continued service to Ecuador with the B777.
Weeks ago it became known that a single KLM flight would finally be operated with the Dreamliner, and so the day came. At 14:31 of the 7 May made landfall in Quito with 266 passengers on board and almost 400 checked bags, and el Boeing 787 KLM from Amsterdam, called "Bougainvillaea" and registered as PH-BHD and was received by the traditional water arch.

Air Europa already operates the B787-8/9, now if demand increases in summer KLM always operates the imposing B777-200/300. Nevertheless, the B777-200ER already have more than 14 years of age and consume almost a 25% more kerosene than the B787-10, that's why they are the perfect replacement.

We hope that KLM continues to serve Ecuador with state-of-the-art and environmentally friendly aircraft such as the B787s and this time the variant 9. My greatest wish is that the B777-300ER and the B787-10 continue to operate., the latter with 344 seating, compared to the B777-200ER with 316 seating.
