The ultra-low-cost Mexican airline Viva Aerobus has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 90 planes Airbus A321neo to boost its national and international growth.
This MoU would bring the airline's order book to 170 A320 family aircraft in its different versions, including the newest and most efficient neo.
“¡El mercado de ocio mexicano está en plena recuperación y Viva Aerobus está en el centro de la acción! The unbeatable economy of the A321neo makes it the perfect choice for the airline's ultra-low-cost model.. We are pleased to be a partner of the airline since 2013 and we look forward to working together as it continues its growth trajectory.”, Christian Scherer said, commercial director and director of Airbus International.
The A321neo is the largest member of the family A320neo from Airbus and offers unmatched range and performance. By incorporating new generation motors and Sharklets, the A321neo offers reduced noise from the 50 percent and fuel savings of more than 20 percent compared to the previous generation of single-aisle aircraft, while maximizing passenger comfort with the widest single-aisle cabin and large overhead storage space.
Viva Aerobus has based its fleet renewal strategy on the Family A320. On 2013, the airline placed an order for 52 A320 family aircraft, largest aircraft order Airbus carried out by a single airline in Mexico at the time. On 2018, Viva Aerobus ordered 25 A321neo aircraft. To the date, Viva Aerobus works 74 A320 Family aircraft.
Airbus has sold more than 1.150 aircraft in Latin America and the Caribe. More of 750 are in operation throughout the region, with others 500 in backlog, representing a market share of almost 60% of passenger aircraft in service. From 1994, Airbus has secured the 75% of net orders in the region.
