The airline Avianca will increase its flights between Ecuador and Buenos Aires, starting to operate daily from Quito and soon, starting flights from Guayaquil.
From the 1 September 2024, Avianca, operated by Avianca Costa Rica, will temporarily increase to one daily flight on its current route from Saint Joseph, Costa Rica with scale in Quito and continuation towards Buenos Aires EZE.

Avianca increases flights to Buenos Aires from Ecuador
As context, let's remember that Avianca began the direct route between Quito and Buenos Aires the 30 October 2022 and since then it has increased its capacity flying with airplanes Airbus A320neo with capacity for 180 passengers and then, increasing to 4 weekly flights.
Within a new context of liberation of frequencies between Ecuador and Argentina thanks to the new bilateral agreement, They have also requested the new route Saint Joseph – Guayaquil – Buenos Aires, where there will be news soon. We start reviewing the changes:
Avianca increases flights from Quito
Let's go with the first confirmed news, from the 1 next September, the airline is going to increase the current 4 weekly frequencies to one daily flight from Monday to Sunday, increase that will be in effect until Monday 25 October, where the airline returns to 4 frequencies, but there will be more increases that I will tell you below.
The schedule of these flights is as follows:
- Flight AV647 takes off from Quito at 21:15 hours and lands in Ezeiza at 05:05 of the next day with a duration of 5 hours and 50 minutes.
- Flight AV646 takes off from Buenos Aires at 6:15 hours and lands back in Quito at 10:30 hours.
Guayaquil route launch – Buenos Aires
For the month of November it was announced that direct flights between Guayaquil and Buenos Aires, which would operate with four weekly frequencies on the route Saint Joseph – Guayaquil – Buenos Aires, that will be added to the 4 frequencies from Quito. With this move, Avianca will operate until the end of the year 8 weekly flights between Ecuador and Argentina directly, representing more than 2.500 weekly seats between both nations.
