United Airlines and the Quito airport came together to present the World of Aviation and thus inspire girls on “Girls in Aviation Day” for the first time in Ecuador.

The 20 last september, the Quito Mariscal Sucre International Airport It was the scene of a unique experience, promoted by United Airlines, which aimed to inspire girls to work in the world of aviation. A group of 19 girls from among 12 and 14 years, selected by the Quiport Corporation (Quiport) from several schools surrounding the airport, They learned about the entire operation of the American airline at the largest airport in Ecuador, where they had the opportunity to see up close the work of the airline's collaborators in areas such as: Aircraft maintenance, ramp operations, catering, loading and customer service; as well as the general management of an airport including the air traffic control, security, migration, duty free shops, VIP rooms and aeronautical firefighters.

Girls in Aviation Day

on this day, I was invited by United to accompany them on the journey to Quito airport and also be able to share some aeronautical data with interested girls. By the way, I made this Aero Report so that you can know this airport as perhaps you had not known it before:

The “Girls in Aviation Day” program, which is held for the first year in Ecuador, It is an action of United Airlines in collaboration with Women in International Aviation (WAI for its acronym in English), a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging and promoting women in all fields and professional interests of aviation.

On 2023, The event promoted by United will also take place at airports in other Latin American countries, What: Sao Paulo (Brazil), Mexico City (Mexico), Bogota (Colombia), City of Panama (Panama), Liberia (Costa Rica), Saint Joseph (Costa Rica) and Buenos Aires (Argentina).

“For those of us who make United Airlines in Ecuador, It is an honor to be able to celebrate Girls in Aviation Day in Quito. Our goal is to inspire new generations of girls to see their future in aviation., with careers ranging from pilots, maintenance techniques, customer service agents, cybersecurity specialists, technology, marketing, route planning, among many others, where only the sky is the limit.”, said Bettina Carvajal, United Airlines Manager in Ecuador. “Thank you to Quiport and the Quito Airport for sharing the same enthusiasm as us and opening their doors to us to carry out this event”.

“Quiport and the Quito airport are proud to be co-hosts of the Girls in Aviation meeting.. I congratulate United Airlines for this excellent initiative that seeks to integrate more women into the air transport industry., inspiring young women from the communities neighboring the airport operation so that they break any barrier and expand their professional horizons towards this exciting activity that is aviation.”, said Ramón Miró, President and CEO of Quiport.
